Bryce Dallas Howard May Replace Lindsay Lohan In 'Teardrop Diamond'
Whether she's losing roles because she's too busy, because she's done with independents or because she's unreliable, Lindsay Lohan is so known for dropping out of projects that some of us have coined the action as "pulling a La Lohan." It isn't a surprise now to learn that she's being replaced in another film, The Loss of a Teardrop Diamond. You may remember the plot of the Tennessee Williams-penned film, which we told you about in November, as centering on a Southern socialite in 1920s Memphis. Lohan had been cast as that socialite, but now the role is being offered to Bryce Dallas Howard. As far as reliability goes, Howard may be the better choice, but as for acting talent, I'd honestly rather have Lohan. Howard has so far done awful things for the films she's starred in, and she nearly damaged my faith in one of my favorite filmmakers, Lars von Trier. I'm hoping that Sam Raimi actually gets smart and cuts most of her performance from Spider-Man 3 -- she was almost completely absent from the trailer -- although it might help him to keep her just to make Kirsten Dunst look better. I think for Williams' fans, spoiled with the memories of great actors starring in film versions of A Streetcar Named Desire, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof and The Glass Menagerie, among others, as well as in his previously filmed screenplays like my personal favorite, Baby Doll, Howard will be a horrible addition to Teardrop Diamond's cast.

Dang, I really like Bryce Dallas Howard... Just emailed some friends about this and it looks like I'm the only one in my circle that digs her work.
What's wrong with me?

Mr Campbell,
Whenever someone in my circle of friends says something as silly as you have, saying Lindsay Lohan being a "better" actress than Bryce Dallas Howard, we like to say: "Please stop smoking that Shyamalan."
How you can justify that Lohan is a better actress is far beyond anyone's comprehension. Dallas stole the show in "The Village" and from I understand her Broadway work was incredible. "Lady in the Water" is an anomaly that will go unexplained for the ages; no one knows what the hell Shyamalan was thinking (smoking).
Lohan is nowhere in the realm of Bryce--if you want to make comparisons, try Elisha Cuthbert or Jessica Alba. Great job with the scoop on this one, but I must respectfully disagree.

Yeah, I think the same.
Bryce Howard beats that Lohan chick hands down. Her acting is fantastic even if her films aren't always, have you not seen "the village"?

although i somply adore Bryce she is still a bit raw . But shes comeing along fine. Lohan is a total spare. and to be honest..if it wasnt for Bryce and Paul...Lady in the water would of been a total waste. i understand that K,Dunst and tht twit that Demi Moore married was supose to do the Village. i wouldnt of even watched it had they did. No shes has charisma and that goes a long way....even if i dont see and academy award any times soon

how grateful you must be that you were given this great gift for idiom ...and it must be such a matter of great pride to your mother that you not only use this gift for the compassionate edification of others, but that you also have the power to see into the future. young Bryce has been working at her craft both onstage and in film since she was a kid. she is turning into a fine actress, and will, i believe be delighting us for years. she also clearly has far more integrity in her calling than do you. but then, i suppose you call yourself a "critic".

Bryce Howard is an amazing actress, possibly still a little "raw" as some one else said, but if Lohan hadn't been replaced in the movie by her I would never even consider seeing it. I have enjoyed Howard's work in the past and think that she is going to bring this movie's review way up. Good move on Jodi Markell's part in choosing Bryce!
